Who We Serve:

Habitat for Humanity of Logan County serves the entire county.  Therefore, we make it our mission to find out the specific needs of the residents we serve.

We are a global brand under the umbrella of Habitat for Humanity International, but as an individual affiliates, we serve our communities locally with an individual board and staff.  This gives us the unique experience of developing personalized relationships where we can mentor families individually.  Not every family’s needs are the same, which means the paths we take together, toward home ownership, may be different with each family.  We believe this sets us apart from other organizational models, because poverty wears many different faces and when we are open to giving a voice to those we serve, we find success!

Habitat home owners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for their themselves through shelter we empower.

Our History

The Habitat for Humanity affiliate for Logan County, Ohio, was founded in the fall of 1991 by Dr Roger and Rachel Kaufman, who saw a need for subsidized housing here in Logan County. Habitat for Humanity of Logan County became an affiliate of Habitat International on Nov 30th 1992. At that time, its primary focus was constructing new homes, and the all-volunteer affiliate has built 30 homes by 2024.

Millard Fuller founded Habitat for Humanity with his wife Linda in 1976 after testing the concept of partnership housing in the heart of Africa’s Congo for three years, his dream was that Habitat would someday be as well-known and recognizable as the Boy Scouts of America.

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity found its earliest inspirations a grassroots community on an interracial farm in southern Georgia. Since its founding in 1976, the Christian housing organization has grown to become a leading global nonprofit, working in local communities across all 50 states and more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. â€‹â€‹â€‹
